Hybrid Solar & wind energy system

Hybrid Solar & wind energy system

Hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) are becoming popular as stand-alone power systems for providing electricity in remote areas due to advances in renewable energytechnologies and subsequent rise in prices of petroleum products. A hybrid energy system, or hybrid power, usually consists of two or more renewable energy sources used together to provide increased system efficiency as well as greater balance in energy supply.

example of a hybrid energy system is a photovoltaic array coupled with a wind turbine. This would create more output from the wind turbine during the winter, whereas during the summer, the solar panels would produce their peak output. Hybrid energy systems often yield greater economic and environmental returns than wind, solar, geothermal or trigeneration stand-alone systems by themselves.

Got the opportunity to complete my project From Missouri University Columbia USA
This Picture Show our site i.e. the front main building of the college

The Project includes a combination of solar charging plus wind energy generation and storing both energy together in DC form in batteries then converting them to AC by inverter ans supply to AC load

Mini wind turbine generator Set

the wind turbine set is connected to a charge controller and the charge generated is sent to the rechargeable batteries

same is the case with the Solar energy system setit is connected to a charge controller and the charge generated is sent to the rechargeable batteries

what we did in our project we combined both system in to one using a hybrid charge controller
the above diagram shows the SLD for the wind and solar hybrid system

Actual setup
